... was opened in 1927, and named in honour of local businessman and MP Thomas Robinson Ferens (1847–1930). He helped establish Reckitt and Sons, a manufacturer of household goods, as one of the city's foremost businesses; the site and funding for the gallery were donated by him.
In 2017 the gallery hosted the Turner Prize as part of Hull's UK City of Culture programme.
